Fernando Garcia Jr. Obituary
Fernando "Fred" Garcia, Jr., age 59 of Pequannock, NJ passed away September 13, 2022 surrounded by his family.
Fred was born in St. Joseph's Hospital in Paterson and grew up in Lodi before moving to Pequannock, where he lived for 25 years. He was a 1980 graduate of Bergen County Tech. Fred had a passion for cars and worked for 37 years as an Auto Technician with Benzel Busch in Englewood, becoming a Master Technician widely known for his expertise on all things Mercedes-Benz.
Fred was an enormous fan of the New York Giants and could be found watching every game. Some of his fondest memories were watching the games with family and friends. Fred was also a lover of foods of all kinds, always knowing where to find the best restaurants (such as his beloved Pizza Town). He liked outdoor activities, like fishing, riding his bike, and tending to the hydrangeas and Japanese Maple tree in his yard.
Fred enjoyed road-trips and vacations with his family. Unsurprisingly, the playlist for these trips included his favorite classic rock groups Led Zeppelin and the Ramones. Some highlights were trips to Niagara Falls, Boston, Canada, Florida, and, most of all, Puerto Rico. He will be missed for his kindness, sense of humor, and New Jersey attitude.
Fred is survived by his daughters, Stephanie and Sarah Elizabeth Garcia; ex-wife and friend, Ana Mercedes; his parents Fernando Garcia, Sr. and Maria de Jesus Acevedo Garcia; his future son-in-law Bobby; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, September 16th at M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains from 5pm-8pm. Internment will take place Saturday, September 17th in Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa, NJ.
