She was predeceased by: her parents, Pailman John Gatling and Amanc Ballard Gatling; and her siblings, Bertell Gatling, Thurman Gatling, McCoy Gatling, John Gatling, Gaynelle Roscoe, Ethylene White and Edna Griffin.
She is survived by: her husband Calvin Avent of Perth Amboy; her sister Wilma Hunter (James) of Petersburg, Virginia; her father-in-law Bronis L. Avent, Sr.; and her siblings-in-law, Ann Avent Rouse of Augusta, GA and Bronis L. Avent, Jr. of Evans, GA. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
