He was predeceased by: his parents, Guadalupe Rivera and Felipe Nieves. He is survived by: his children, Jose Luis Nieves, Jr., Nancy Nieves, Diana Leatherbury, Pedro Nieves (Patricia Albuja), Maridell Nieves and Stefanie Morales (Eddie); and his siblings, Arcadio Rivera, Felix Nieves and Rosa Nieves. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 2 great-granddaughters.
