He was predeceased by: his son Samuel Zayas. He is survived by: his wife Carmen Vargas Zayas; and his children, Nancy Zayas, Jeanette Zayas, Erica Perez, Jessica Marie Zayas, Edward Hagensen and Mario Zayas, Jr.. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters and four brothers.
