He was predeceased by: his parents, Dorothy Szmania and Edward Szmania; and his siblings, Debra Szmania and Edward (Maryann Szmania). He is survived by: his wife Karen Szmania; his pets, Chumlee and Angelina; his brother-in-law Casimer Witek; and his cousins, Constance Devan and Patricia Willette. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In Lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Research Foundation.
