He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Santiago Perez-Cruz and Maria Perez-Cruz (Cruz Alavez); his wife Merenciana; his children, Daniel Perez-Cruz, Minga Perez-Cruz, Saul Perez-Cruz, Elizabeth Perez-Cruz, Santiago Claver Perez-Cruz, Juan Perez-Cruz and Jose Jr. Perez-Cruz (Rud); and his sisters, Francisca Perez-Cruz and Cristina Perez-Cruz. He was also cherished by grandchildren and one great-grandson.
