He was predeceased by: his parents, Anthony Grimes and Catherine Kinney. He is survived by: his close friend Jacqueline Jeter; his children, Crystal E. Williams, Virginia, Natiasha Grimes and Curtis "Khalil" Grimes; his siblings, Virginia, Leanora Grimes, Keith, Kevin Grimes and Bobby Glover; and his uncle Burleigh Grimes. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
