She was predeceased by : her former life partner Robert Bowen; her husband Joseph Delesantro; her daughter Catherine "Cat" Wesson; and her grandson Michael Wesson. She is survived by : her brothers, Robert Altman and Joseph Altman; and her children, Joyce Renshaw, Patricia Renshaw, Robert Wesson (Dutch) and Barbara O'Brien. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, her niece and 2 nephews.

As a charitable woman, Joan donated her time to many causes for the community through the church. In lieu of flowers, Joan would prefer donation to be made to The Atlantic City Rescue Mission.
