He was predeceased by : his granddaughter Amanda Ruela. He is survived by : his wife Maria Ruela (Da Silva); his children, Virgilio Ruela and Albertina Brea (Bobby Brea); and his grandchildren, Mario Ruela, Emmanuel and Elena Brea.
