He was predeceased by: his wife Emily M. Nichols (Went); and his parents, John R. Nichols and Helen M. Nichols (Bilinski). He is survived by: his children, Maryann Kahse and Gerald J. Nichols (Elizabeth); his grandchildren, Sean, Andrew, Rebecca, Nicholas, Phillip and Nathaniel; and his brothers, J. Gary Nichols, Thomas Nichols and John Nichols (Jack). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
