He was predeceased by: his parents, Mercedes Hernandez and Baleriano Hernandez; and his siblings, Mercedes, Celeste and Arsenio.

He is survived by: his son Richard; his grandchildren, Olga, Richard Jr., Louis and Destiny; and his siblings, Carmen, Argentina, Leo, Frank, Diogenes and Luis Hernandez. He is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces and cousins.
