He was loved and cherished by many people including : his father John Van Saun; his wife Debra Van Saun (Diesch); his children, Melissa Korsakoff (Kristopher) of Greenville, NY, John Van Saun (Emily) of Melbourne, FL, Steve Van Saun (Julia) of Windsor, CA and Michael Van Saun (Abigail) of Warwick, NY; his grandchildren, Brianna, Ryleigh, Kalista, Katelyn, Madison, Harrison, Josie and Violet; his siblings, Bob, Ted, Cindy, Randy, Tom, Deb, Sue, Wendy and Danny; and his mother Joanne Van Saun (Tanis).

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sussex Christian Reformed Church.

Peter Mitchell wrote a sympathy message

“Debbie, so sorry to you and your family on the loss of Rich. I just found out about it this jan, 2023. He was a great guy. Always was laughing and carrying on with all the guys from leisuretime. Ill include him in my prayers. I just said to my wife , i have to call Richie and see what hes been up to. Its been a lot of years since i spoke with him. He use to laugh when i would tell him , ill send you a dime so you can call me. Again , so sorry . Pete Mitchell”
