He was loved and cherished by many people including: his children, Matthew John, John Joseph III (Kelly) and Lindsay Michelle Cross (Jonathan); his grandchildren, Tiana Serrano, Teagan Shiflett, Jack Wurtenberg, Matthew Wurtenberg, Anthony Wurtenberg and Noah Cross; his siblings, Robert and Denise Wurtenberg; his in-laws, Ed and Pat Barker; his siblings-in-law, Linda, Carolyn, Laura and Jim; his pet Levi; and his parents, Jack and Sis. He was also cherished by aunts, uncles, cousins, a lifetime of friends, many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations to Blood Cancer United (givenow.bloodcancerunited.org), formerly known as The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, in Wert's memory will be appreciated.
