He was predeceased by: his parents, Norman C. Sr. Patten and Delorus Patten; and his sister Patricia Brobst (late Richard). He is survived by: his wife Margaret Patten; his sister-in-law Natalie A. Jacovelli; his children, Norman J. Patten, Cindy M. Lanham (Bill), Joe M. Patten (Liz), Kimberly Shea (Rich), Mary Beth Mc Millan (Paul), Christina L. Bottiglierie (Henry), Jimmy Patnaude (Lynn) and Danny Patnaude; and his brothers, Dennis Patten (Evalene) and Alan Patten (Merrilee). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
