She was predeceased by: her parents, Linwood William Gurley and Ruby Mozingo Gurley; and her brother Linwood Earl Gurley. She is survived by: her husband Lynden D. Sarver; her children, Robin Denise Jowers of Michigan and Emmitt Clifford Jones of Greenville; and her sister Evelyn Gurley Ezzell of Goldsboro. She is also survived by five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
