He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Johnson and Madeline Johnson. He is survived by: his spouse Beverly Gray Johnson; his children, Caryn Lee Johnson and Jeffrey W. Johnson; and his brothers, Grant and Wayne Johnson.
He made regular donations to Antler Ridge Wildlife Sanctuary in Newton, an organization that takes in and heals wounded animals before releasing them back into the wild.
