He was predeceased by: his parents, Allan Stewart and Alice Stewart (Doherty); his son Gerard James Stewart; and his siblings, Alice Morrison and James Stewart.
He is survived by: his great grandchildren, Danicka and Audriana; his wife Sarah Stewart (Lynch); his children, Allan Stewart (Diane) of Dunedin and Caroline Malley (Ken) of Hazlet; his daughter-in-law Kim Stewart; his siblings, Margaret McGillivray and Norah Scholte; his siblings' child Josephine; and his grandchildren, Allan Stewart, Kenneth Stewart, Robert Stewart, Kristenlacey Fike (Aaron, Heather Lyczkowski), Brittany Blackmore (Tyler) and Kimberly Sowder.
