He was predeceased by: his brother Allen Bassett; and his former wife Jay Maxon. He is survived by: his parents, Jeanne Mordorf and Preston R. Bassett, Sr.; his spouse Josephine Bassett; his grandchild Gideon Bassett Duffy; his children, Ellen Bassett Meadors of Lincoln, Martha G. Bassett and Paul P. Bassett; his grandchildren, Zoya Geacintov Seubert, Martha Bassett Baier, Mary Bassett Anishchenko, Susanna Bassett Oakley and Andrea Bassett Zabaglio; his sister Margaret Bassett Stern; and also, Sarah Jeanne Bassett and William Bassett.
