He was loved and cherished by many people including : his wife Linda; his former life partner Sue; his children, Charlie Dotson, Scott Dotson, Stephanie Davis (Bryan) and Chad Dotson (Cora); his stepchildren, Joey McQuarie (Jen), Michelle Jaramillo and Mike McQuarie (Chrissy); his grandchildren, Hunter, Keegan and McKenna Davis; his parents, William Dotson and Margaret Morris Dotson; and his siblings, Jack (Sherry), Dick (Betty) and Diane.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that anyone wanting to donate, can donate to the Bill Dotson Tutoring Fund to support UNM Athletics.
