He was predeceased by: his parents, Sylvestre Montes and Carmen Valles Montes; and his brother Rodrigo Montes. He is survived by: his wife Mary Montes; his sons, Steven Montes, Abelardo Jr. Montes and Christopher Montes; his siblings, Martin Montes, Lupa Granados and Alicia Chavarria; his grandchildren, Patricia, Katrina, Mikey, Cianne and Cristian7; Bulmaro Sifuentes. He is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren.
