He is survived by: his spouse Virginia Madrid Barela; his children, Reuben Barela, Jr of Doña Ana, Antonia "Toni" Castro of Las Cruces, Rose Maria Barela of Alamogordo and Angela Linda Burton (Shane) of Alamogordo; his sister Gloria Barela-Torres of Rosarito, CA; his grandchildren, Nichole, Daniella, Adonnica, Davina, Bianca, Abi, Daniel, Saizhe, Shane, Jacob and Sammy; his great grandchildren, Romey, Messiah, Harley and Levi; his sister Linda May; his son-in-law Miguel Castro, Jr.; and also, Mijo, Tillie, Thelma and Martha. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
