He was predeceased by: his children, Rene (Nicole) and Mona Lee Lucero; his great grandchild Nehemiah; his parents, Martin Lucero and Hiliria Lucero; his grandparents, Susanita Salcido and Gaspar Lozano; his siblings, Frank Lucero, Lucila Ortega, Susie Farmer, Genevo Farmer and Connie Ornelas; his close friend Archie Terri; his parents-in-law, Geronima Sanchez and Ben Sanchez; and his siblings-in-law, Maile Sanchez, Eliver Sanchez (Vicky, Lee Roy), Eloy Sanchez, Linda Sedillo and Eliza Sanchez.
He is survived by: his wife Elvira Sanchez Lucero; and his child Mark Lucero (Sophia, Sammy Jr.). He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brothers: Junio Lucero and wife Virginia, Martin Lucero and wife Nena, Ignacio Lucero; sisters, Bessie Perez and Margaret; numerous nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Alex Ortega; Efrian Sanchez and wife Cecelia; sisters-in-law, Josie Sanchez, and Sara Sanchez; and close friends.
