He is survived by : his wife Gloria Lyon Valdez; his children, Rick Valdez (Yvonne), Don Valdez (Shirley), Natalie Gonzalez (Mario), Diane Chavez, Sandra Lucero, Eileen Donevant, James Garcia and David Garcia; and his sisters, Rose Montoya, Toni Montoya and Luisa Barowski.
