Dean Williams Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dean Williams (Las Vegas, Nevada), born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, who passed away on December 19, 2022, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Dean Williams to pay them a last tribute.
It is with great sadness I share that my father Dean lost his battle with kidney disease.
My Dad was a man of strong hands, strong character and strong work ethics.
He worked his way through the construction business and was General Superintendent for the Shapel and Shapel Homes and the Irvine Company when I was a kid then went to Vegas in the early stages of the houseing boom there and worked for Lewis Homes (Now D.R. Horton)
He knew more about construction and the building trades than most of the guys he worked for over the years and mentored most of them while letting them sign his paychecks.
He was an imposing figure at 6 foot 8 inches tall, and easy to find in any crowd as long as you were in a spot to see over others heads.
Growing up we heard stories of him shoveling concrete with a snow shovel “because the normal ones were too slow”
When he was younger he was short tempered and quick to anger, but this is how he ran his crews and made a name for himself as a good leader in the industry.
He sought out the meaning of life in his own ways, never too busy to hear you out if you were talking about your beliefs.
He spent many years as a member of the Masonic lodge in California and Nevada reaching the level of 32nd degree or Scotish Right Master Mason and Shriner.
He loved the culture of the Native tribes and worked as a construction consultant on the Moapa Band of Paiutes Moapa River Indians Reservation.
The Native culture inspired his art from his carvings to his paintings.
You can see some of them here (https://www.artpal.com)
My dad loved to paint and always saw things in a different way than most folk saw them…
As he got older he was more forgiving of the miss steps of others and became a more gentle spirit.
He spent hours at his easel painting and pondering the world around him.
Dean leaves behind his wife and faithful companion of several decades Bernice, a son (Me) and Valerie (my wife) along with Lena and Mathew Bernice’s children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren; friends and family from all walks of life and not the least of these Bonnie, his ex-wife and mother or his 3 children who still counts him as a close friend.
Dean was proceeded in death by a his daughter Betsy and son Dean; All of his siblings and most of their spouses. I’m sure there’s a party waiting for him on the other side.
One of our last conversations was what to do with his remains when he passed and I have a very clear understanding of what he wanted and intend to carry out his wishes… Which may or may not violate federal law so I won’t go into detail.
As for a formal cerimony, we aren’t planning on that right now but the door at the Giddy2Ranch is always open to anyone who wants to drop in and say a thing or two about my dad.
