He was predeceased by : his parents, John Chavez and Stella Chavez. He is survived by : his wife Kathryn Chavez; his daughter Rebecca Chavez; his former life partner Elizabeth Weinstein; his son Daniel Chavez; his former life partner Frances Casselli; and his siblings, Tony Chavez, Cindy Chavez, Patricia Chavez and Sandra Derosier. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
