Tom Redmond wrote a sympathy message

“Richie and I go way back to the 70's at the 17th Precinct. He was a good cop, dedicated, smart, and great fun to be around. He had a huge personality that drew people to him. He was a terrific athlete, we played on a 17th Precinct football team under the lights at McCarron Park, Brooklyn. I was gone by the time he became the Precinct PBA Delegate but I personally know he stood tall for the men and women he represented. May he rest in eternal peace and may God protect his family and friends.”
