He was predeceased by: his wife Grace Simmons; and his sister June Zatt. He is survived by: his children, Robert E. Gerding (Barbara), Dawn E. Johnston and Donna L. Cooke; and his brother-in-law Larry. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; twenty six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
