He was predeceased by : his parents, Clifford O. Nye and Florence Slater Nye; his wife Louise; his sister Phyllis; and his granddaughter Mary Jane Chapman.

He is survived by : his children, Flo Feenaughty (James), Darla Burchard (Alan), Lucinda Croston (Keelan) and Ricky Nye (Mary); his grandchildren, Crystal, Gerald, Miranda, Thomas, Jason, Joshua, Ritchie and Logan; his great grandchildren, Brandon, Todd, Valerie, Shane, Lucas, John-Phillip, Lily, Ila and Jacob; his great great grandchild Octavia; his brothers, Dennis and Douglas Nye; his niece Anita; and his nephews, Fred Nye (Denise), Jeff Nye, Steve and John Jones.
