He was predeceased by: his parents, George Karpel and Evelyn Karpel; his daughter Margaret "Margie" Mills; his brothers, George and Stephen Karpel; and his siblings-in-law, William Paxton, Louis Roma, Mary Dollinger and Bernice Jarrett.
He is survived by: his wife Margaret Karpel; his daughters, Alice Shoultes and Kate Karpel (Josh Wilsey); his grandchildren, Maggie, Anderson, Evelyn and Claire; his siblings, Catherine "Kitty" Paxton (Salt Garnesey) and Joseph Karpel; his siblings-in-law, Jane Roma, Cheryl Karpel, Michael Dollinger, Fred and Becky Jarrett; and his son-in-law Aaron Mills. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended friends.
