She was loved and cherished by many people including : her parents, Duane Sheppard and Leora Sheppard (Everts); her child Eagle Scout; her friend Vern Benedict; her son Peter Carey; her husband Richard Carey (Vern Benedict); her children, Joseph Carey (Tammy) of Corning, Michael Carey (Judy) of Cohocton, John Carey (Shannon) of Corning, Susan Dyckman (Joseph) of Atlanta, Patrick Carey (Dani) and Robert Carey (Trish) of Wayland; and her stepchildren, Jean, Sharon, Tom, Fred, Sandy and Mary. She was also cherished by 13 step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.
