With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Rita Gottfried of Forest Hills, New York, born in Newark, New Jersey, who passed away on December 1, 2020 at the age of 94. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Irving Sass and Bessie Sass (Lieb); her sister Sylvia Sass Lieb; her granddaughter Caroline; her niece Cynthia Lieb; and her siblings-in-law, Shirley and Robert Saphir.
She is survived by: her sons, Dr. Irving (Jeannine Squires Gottfried), Michael (Maureen Byrne Gottfried) and Richard (Stacey Freeman Gottfried); her grandchildren, John (Katie), Alexander, Daniel, Samuel, Sydney Jean and James; and her sibling's children, Carin (Paul Feldman), Hilarie Lieb (Morrie Goldman), Irwin (Elise Lieb), Marc (Doe Saphir) and Marjorie (Bob Fish).
Rita had many long and lasting friendships at Heritage Hills which endured during the recent pandemic through daily phone calls of concern for one another.
Memorial donations may be made to Hadassah or the charity of one's choice.
