He was predeceased by : his parents, Benjamin Cosh and Henrietta Van Horn Cosh; and his siblings, Florence (Chapin), Joseph, Louis, Percy, Robert, Adeline (Bailey), Ernest and James.

He is survived by : his brother Edward (Kathy) of New Berlin, NY; his sisters-in-law, Nora Cosh and Marilyn Cosh of Sussex, NJ; his wife Evelyn Reiser; and his children, John Cosh (Carmela) of Charlotte, NC, Linda McCord (Doug) of Cherry Valley, NY, Larry Cosh (Paula) of Galway, NY, Roger Cosh (Juliette) of Athens, TN, Terry Cosh (Holly) of Gardiner, NY, Tracy (Ruth) of Pine Bush, NY and Randy (Janet) of New Paltz, NY.. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations in John's name be made to the Gardiner Fire & Rescue, 2349 Route 44 Gardiner, NY 12525.
