He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Carl Swanson and Grace Swanson (Stamp); his wife Joyce Owen; his children, Carl Swanson (Regina) of Mt. Morris, Margot Swanson of New Hampshire, Gail Valentino (Larry) of West Sparta, Karlene Parshall (Carol) of Georgia, Kathie Roberts (John) of North Carolina, Patti Duel of Rochester, Joseph Parshall (Julie) of Georgia and Jon Parshall of Rochester; his brothers, Bill Swanson of Mount Morris and Ed Swanson of Mount Morris; his son Ronald Parshall Jr.; and his sister Sheila Saunders. He was also cherished by 12 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Tuscarora, 8082 Main Street, Mount Morris, NY 14510 and the Teresa House, 21 Highland Road, Geneseo, NY 14454.
