He was predeceased by: his parents, John I. VerPlanck and Viola Teeple VerPlanck. He is survived by: his wife Maureen C. Ihrie VerPlanck; his sons, John I. VerPlanck III and David VerPlanck; his grandsons, Chase and Cameron VerPlanck; his brother-in-law Richard Parsons; and his nephews, Stephen and Andrew Parsons. He is also survived by two great-nephews and one great-niece.
