Darlene F. Plavchak Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Darlene F. Plavchak (Highland, New York), who passed away on July 10, 2025, at the age of 72, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Antonio Spizzo and Loretta Spizzo (Whalen); her son-in-law Michael C. O'Connor; and her siblings-in-law, Sandra Sherman and John Fallon.

She is survived by: her husband David Plavchak; her daughters, Cristine O'Connor (Zappone) of Weymouth, Massachusetts, Michelle Plavchak (Brian Bush), Allison Smith (Kevin) of Marlboro and Sarah McGrath (Michael) of Ravena; her grandchildren, Owen, Lucas, Sophie, Hannah O'Connor, Brynlee Bush, Emma and Andrew Smith; and her friend MaryBeth Saso. She is also survived by family, Darlene is survived by her sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and countless nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Monday, July 14th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Michael Torsone Funeral Home, Inc. (38 Main St, Highland, NY 12528). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, July 15th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church (55 Main St, Highland, NY 12528).

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to the newly established Darlene Plavchak Memorial Scholarship that will benefit Highland students who wish to pursue educational careers.
