She was predeceased by: her parents, DeWarren Barton and Beulah Colburn Barton; her husband John I. "Jack" Lewis; her son John I. Lewis; and her siblings, Martha Carlson and Allen Barton.
She is survived by: her children, Karen Sheldon of Panama and Scott Lewis of Ashville; her daughter-in-law Jean Lewis of Ashville; her grandsons, Lucas Sheldon, Josh Lewis (Irene), Zack Sheldon (Jody), Andy Sheldon and Scott Lewis II; her great grandchildren, Emmett, Daisy Pearl, Andy and Brayden; her stepgrandchildren, Vern Sheldon Jr., Darcie Roberts, James Sheldon, Kyle Jinks, John Forni and Erin Manning; and her brother James Barton (Jean) of Florida. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ashville Free Library, or the Ashville Fire Department.
