He was predeceased by : his parents, Caroline Thompson and Jay Thompson; and his siblings, Thelma Wood, Carol Bailey and Raymond Thompson.

He is survived by : his siblings, Shirley Swartz (Dick) and Arthur Thompson (Elaine); his significant other Jennien Thompson; his children, John Thompson (Laurie) of Johnson City, NY, Sheryl Talbut (Vince) of Chenango Bridge, NY and Debra Cavallaro (Joe) of Rochester, NY; and his grandsons, Vinnie Talbut II, Nathan J. Guarnere, Julian R. Guarnere and Jacob M. Thompson. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
