She was predeceased by: her parents, Marshall Bates and Alberta Kimberly Bates; her siblings, Alberta Abel (Ed), Sylvia Passero, Emma Jean Williams and Robert Bates; and her pet Suzie.

She is survived by: her niece Rose; her children, Steven Kowal (Virginia Leonard) of Ft. Johnson, Justine Eglin (Scott) of Amsterdam, Maria LaPorte (Gary) of Amsterdam, Kathy Kowal (Pablo Almodovar) of Amsterdam, Roman Kowal (Rebecca) of Horseheads, Subrina Badman (Scott) of Perth and Stefania LaBounty (Bruce) of Gloversville; her brothers, Marshall Bates, Jr. (Nancy) of Mayfield and Warren Bates of Ft. Johnson; her brother-in-law Robert Williams of Broadalbin; and her pet Roscoe. She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; eight great-greatgrandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
