He is survived by: his wife Frances Olmstead (Marchetti); his children, Howard J. Olmstead Jr. (Theresa) of Johnstown and Mary Jane Trzaskos (Bob) of Johnstown; his grandchildren, Deena Sisco (Tom), Krista Peterson (Charlie), Colleen Driggs (James), Howard Olmstead (Niki) and Joseph Olmstead; his great grandchildren, Jolee Peterson, Jude Peterson, Giada Olmstead, Gavin Thompson, Jack Driggs, Maggie Driggs and Ella Driggs; his brother-in-law Ralph Marchetti of Las Vegas, NV; and his cousins, Betty MacLaughlin (Ralph), Billy Lang (Mary) and Charlene Strain. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
