He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene Sparks and Beverly Sweet Sparks; his brother Robert; and his stepson Ryan K. Topliff. He is survived by: his wife Susan Johnson Sparks; his son Stephen M. Sparks of Gloversville; his stepson Jason T. Topliff of Gloversville; his siblings, Henry Sparks (Adrienne) of Radcliff, KY and Patti L. Sparks of Goversville; and his sister-in-law Cathy Sparks of Johnstown. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children or the Masonic Home in Utica, in care of the funeral home.
