He was predeceased by: his former wife Antoinette. He is survived by: his wife Ann; his daughters, Regina Allegretti-Davenport (Jonathan Davenport) of Lewisboro, NY and Gioia Allegretti (John Reister) of Palo Alto, CA; and his grandchildren, Allegra and William.
He received master's degrees in history and education from Columbia University and a Ford Foundation Research Grant in 1956.
