He was predeceased by : his parents, Henry H. Hillje and Helen Hillje (Becker); his former life partner Joan B. Hillje (Hilt); his son Henry H. Hillje Jr.; and his sister Carol Grovenger (late Frank).

He is survived by : his wife Dona Hillje (Herring); his daughters, Sandra L Hillje (late Ron Welch), Kathy R. Clements (Paul) and Bonnie Cornell (Stephen); his stepchildren, Kerri and Jonathan Watson; his granddaughters, Julia Dardia (Arthur III), Stephanie Karner (Matthew) and Brittany Nelson (Brett); his great grandchildren, Arthur IV, Isabelle, Charlotte, Abigail, Lillian, Miles and Henry; and his brother George.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 10th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, Ltd. (149 Old Loudon Rd, Latham, NY 12110). A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 11th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the First Reformed Church (413 Main Ave, Wynantskill, NY 12198). A burial was held on Thursday, April 11th 2024 at 12:00 PM at 983 Watervliet Shaker Rd, Albany, NY 12205.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations are requested to be made to The First Reformed Church of Wynantskill, 413 Main Ave, Wynantskill, NY 12198.
