He was predeceased by: his wife Annie Johnston (Terry); his daughter Patsy Kline; and his siblings, Walter Deloy, James O'Neil, Elizabeth Wilkerson and Frances Cannon.

He is survived by: his children, Jimmy D. Johnston (Elizabeth), Ronald Johnston and Phyllis Johnston-Buda; and his father Robin Prophetier of Jamesville.
