She was predeceased by : her parents, Professor Lee Hess and Ruth Hayes Barnes; her husband Thomas Evans Cardwell; and her son Thomas Lee Cardwell. She is survived by : her daughters, Gail Hagenah of Sarasota, FL and Gretchen Canfield of Bergen, NY; her son-in-law Henry Hagenah; and her grandchildren, John Hagenah of Brockport, NY, Matthew Hagenah, Brett, James Wilcox of Bergen, NY, Heather Hancock of Jamestown, Elizabeth Cardwell of Fredonia and Danelle Roane of Virginia.
