He was predeceased by : his parents, William T. Rankin, Sr. and Catherine McLaughlin Rankin; his son Peter Rankin; and his siblings, Owen, James Rankin and Kathryn Mulligan.
He is survived by : his wife Joan Rasmussen Rankin; his children, William Rankin, III (Jennifer Cruz-McLean) of Nyack, NY, Edward Rankin (Christina Paige) of West Hartford, CT, Robert Rankin of Montgomery, NY, Jo-Anne Rankin (John Williams) of Vernon, CT and Linda Rankin (Joseph Kurpel) of Chester, NY; his sister Jeanne Schaumburg of Fishkill, NY; and his grandchildren, Claire, Todd, Ashley, Jennifer, Daniel (Cristie), Scott, Lindsay, Robert and Emily. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
