She was predeceased by: her parents, Fred G. John and Winifred E. Scheld; her husband William R. Begany of Yonkers, NY; and her pets, Morris, Buckey and Molly.

She is survived by: her children, Marie John of Jeffersonville, PA, Laureen Cook of North Bethesda, MD and Kenneth Cook of Suffern, NY..

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Ruth's favorite charity: Care About The Strays, P.O. Box 523, New City, NY 10956.
