He was predeceased by : his parents, Fernando Soto and Manuela Soto (Calderon); and his brother Samuel. He is survived by : his close friend Larry Hough; and his siblings, Santiago, Salvador, Saulo, Sara, Sulema and Susan. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Luke's in the Field, St. Paul's and Trinity Parish, American Cancer Society, or Mount Sinai Hospital.
