She was predeceased by: her brother Jeff Paley; and her former husband John Frederic Byers III. She is survived by: her husband Joseph A. Califano, Jr.; her children, Brooke and Frick Byers; her son-in-law Eugene Goldman; her stepchildren, Mark Califano, Dr. Joseph Califano and Dr. Claudia Califano; her grandchildren, Brian, Russell, Evan Goldman, Jack, Peter, Olivia, Nicholas Califano, Grace and Patrick Califano Becker; and her siblings, Joy Ingham, Tony Mortimer, Amanda Burden, Bill Paley and Kate Paley.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Hilary Califano's name to New York Presbyterian Hospital.
