He was predeceased by: his parents, Lena B. Otto (Smith) and Charles Otto; his siblings, Curtis, Arlo and Barbara O'Heaney; and his daughter-in-law Theresa Otto.

He is survived by: his wife Paula Coutant of Highland, NY; his children, Robert P Otto, David Otto (Susan) of Newburgh and Paula (Alan Zanker) of North Carolina; and his grandchildren, Cheryl, Misty of South Dakota, Leah of Arizona and Daniel of North Carolina. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
