He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Horst and Dorothy Horst (O'Keefe); and his brothers, Lance Horst (Gloria) and Joseph Horst. He is survived by: his wife Karen Horst (Stumpf); his grandsons, Colton and Jacob; his siblings, James Horst (Diane) of Charlotte and Helen Bailey (Rick) of Grand Island; and his sister-in-law Gloria Horst (late Lance) of Plymouth. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
